    • The Celestial Pearl Danio was first introduced to the world in 2006. Originally discovered in small ponds in Myanmar, it was initially named Celestichthys margaritatus. Due to its unique appearance, it quickly became highly sought-after in the aquarium industry.
    • However, the popularity led to a decline in the wild population, endangering the species. Fortunately, breeders started successfully breeding them in captivity, stabilizing the wild population.
    • Scientists later realized that the fish belonged to the Danio family (not technically a rasbora species), leading to its new scientific name: Danio margaritatus.
